Our Mission
JOLT! aims to celebrate the fleeting, investigative, and underground moments of contemporary performance art that honors, challenges, and provokes the past, present, and future. Taking the traditions of the performing arts to the next level with participating genres include: dance, performance theater, live music, and film.The purpose of JOLT! performing arts festival is to present a weekend of events for the Columbia, SC audience to experience innovative multidisciplinary artists in performance from around the country whose works respond to various contemporary themes and ideologies. The goal of JOLT! is to create an immersive mobile experience for the audience to view dance, performance theater, live music, and film all under one roof through utilizing multiple spaces. The festival will hold "lab space offerings," similar to classes, giving the artists opportunities to share their creative process with the community. By offering performances, lab space offerings, question and answer sessions, and panel discussions, JOLT! aims to accomplish and cultivate an environment for both artists and the attendees that is inclusive, diverse, innovative, creative, and inspiring. Further expanding the art scene in the midlands while keeping Columbia, SC a destination for the performing arts.
